Recognizing contributions to neuromorphic computing for key societal and technological transitions.

Delft, The Netherlands – 15 December 2025 – Innatera, the leader in brain-inspired neuromorphic computing for ultra-low-power intelligence at the sensor edge, today announces that its CEO, Dr Sumeet Kumar, has been nominated as a Fellow of the Netherlands Academy of Engineering (NAE).

“The Netherlands has all the ingredients to build globally relevant deep-tech companies: world-class research, ambitious founders, and a highly connected ecosystem,” says HRH Prince Constantijn van Oranje, Envoy at Techleap.nl. “Founders like Sumeet have been at the forefront of Dutch entrepreneurship, turning frontier technologies like neuromorphic computing into companies that tackle real global challenges. His fellowship at the Netherlands Academy of Engineering is a signal that the Netherlands is serious about  scaling technologies that matter, not just for our own benefit, but for the world’s future.”

Fellowship of NAE is awarded to a select group of leading engineers, technologists, and innovators who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their field, shown inspiring leadership around key societal transitions, and are committed to advancing the role of engineering in society. NAE is the Netherlands’ national academy of engineering and is part of international networks such as Euro-CASE and CAETS.

Dr Kumar’s selection recognises his pioneering work in bringing neuromorphic computing out of the lab and into real-world products, and his contribution to building a vibrant deep-tech and semiconductor ecosystem in the Netherlands and beyond. Under his leadership, Innatera has developed and launched Pulsar, a world-first neuromorphic microcontroller that delivers brain-like intelligence at the sensor edge with ultra-low power consumption.

“I’m deeply honoured to be selected as a Fellow of the Netherlands Academy of Engineering,” says Sumeet Kumar, CEO of Innatera. “This recognition reflects the work of the entire Innatera team and our partners, who believe that new kinds of computing are needed to meet the world’s growing demand for intelligent, energy-efficient systems. We’re sitting on a treasure trove of technology that holds the solution to the world’s toughest problems - ambitious founders, strong policy, and flawless execution are all we need to bring them to life. I look forward to contributing to NAE’s charter of building the Netherlands into a powerhouse of global deeptech entrepreneurship and innovation.”
